TCF Canada writing test: tips that work

The writing test has three tasks and lasts 60 minutes. Each task asks for a different type of text.

Published by TCF Vancouver · Updated

What do the tasks ask?

The tasks go from a short, simple message to a longer text that compares two points of view.

Each task has a word range. Read the instruction and stay inside the range.

How do you manage the time?

Plan your time before you start. Leave a few minutes at the end to re-read.

Write short, correct sentences. A simple sentence without errors scores better than a long sentence with errors.

How do you improve?

Write one text each week and have a teacher mark it. Keep a list of your repeated errors.

Learn linking words so that your ideas follow a clear order.

Rules and fees change. Always check the official sources: France Éducation international and Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada.

Questions

What may I bring into the room?
