TCF Canada speaking test: tips that work

The speaking test has three tasks and lasts about 12 minutes. An examiner records it.

Published by TCF Vancouver · Updated

What are the three tasks?

The first task is a guided interview about you. The second is a role-play where you ask for information. The third is giving and defending your opinion on a topic.

How should you speak?

Speak clearly and at a steady pace. Answer the question that you get, with a reason and an example.

If you do not know a word, explain it with other words. Do not stop.

How should you practise?

Practise with a partner or a teacher. Ask them to time you and to note your errors.

Record yourself. Listen for long pauses and repeated mistakes.

Rules and fees change. Always check the official sources: France Éducation international and Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada.
